How to apply

The application procedure is different if you are applying as an international free mover student or as an international exchange student. The admission of  free mover students is handled by the Admissions Office at Mid Sweden University, and the admission of exchange students is handled by the International Office.

International free mover students - application procedure

International students, who are not connected to one of Mid Sweden University’s partner universities, are welcome to apply to our International Programmes. The application is submitted at www.studera.nu. This website is a central application system for all Swedish universities, including Mid Sweden University. Please note that this is the only way to apply to programmes and courses at Mid Sweden University. The online application form and information on entry requirements and application procedure can be found at www.studera.nu.

Application dates for International Programmes

Application dates for autumn term 2010
Online application opens: December 1, 2009
Application deadline: January 15, 2010
Deadline for submitting supporting documents: February 1, 2010

Late applications*

It is possible to submit a late application for most of the international programmes** starting autumn term 2010 at Mid Sweden University. However, study places are subject to availability and there is no guarantee that a late application will be considered. Please note that late applications will only be considered if they are accompanied by documentation proving that:

  • the applicant holds citizenship in EU/EEA/Switzerland (e.g. copy of passport), or
  • the applicant holds a residence permit in Sweden for the first term of the programme or course applied for, or
  • the applicant will hold a residence permit or has the right, for another reason, to stay in Sweden during the first term of the programme or course applied for

*an application is considered late if: 

  • you apply after January 15, 2010 and/or
  • you submit supporting documentation demonstrating that you meet the entry requirements for the programme, after 1st February, 2010.

 **The application is closed for the following programmes: 

  • MIU-55997 Master Programme (one year) in Business Administration, Marketing and Management (campus Östersund)
  • MIU-52933 Master Programme (one year) in Business Administration, Marketing and Management (campus Sundsvall)
  • MIU-54937 Master in behavioural- and social sciences, Social Work
  • MIU-54947 Master in behavioural- and social sciences, Psychology

International exchange students - application procedure

Exchange students are granted admission based on recommendation by their home university. The student must how ever fulfil the prerequisites for the chosen courses. If you are currently studying at one Mid Sweden University’s partner universities and want to apply as an exchange student you can find information regarding the application procedure here.
