Where do you live?
I´m living a bit outside of town in a student flat, which I share with another Swedish student. I really like this place. Its big, brand new and located in quiet environment right next to a forest.
Why did you choose to study here at Mid Sweden University?
Studying abroad for an entire program was the main reason to come here. Miun offers the program I am interested in and the campus is small and personal, what I prefer.
What is special about the program that you are studying here?
There's a variety in the content and assignments of each course. Also, the teachers have quite different backgrounds, which give this program its uniqueness.
What do you like concerning studying at Mid Sweden University?
My study here is not only a program of the university, its also part of the Etour, the European tourism research institution. That gives the study direct insight into the teachers current work.
What do you like about Mid Sweden University in general?
This uni is new, clean and well equipped. The staff is nice as well.
What do you appreciate about Östersund?
I appreciate the location of Östersund here in Jamtland. The nature is right outside of town and its convenient to do outdoor activities here. The conditions for Winterport are perfect.
What do you like about Sweden in general?
The vast nature, the standard of living, and mostly friendly people around.
How do you spend your free time?
The free time I spend mainly with friends I made here. During winter, I learned snowboarding and skiing what I really can enjoy in this "winter city". The slopes are nearby, cross country tracks are right behind my apartment.
Describe the social life as a student in Sweden.
There are many activities organized by the student committees for students. Some within the uni, some are held on a bigger scale (e.g. Skiweek). Generally, there are many opportunities to get in touch with other students.
Is there the opportunity for doing sports at Mid Sweden University or in your city?
Lots of opportunities here in Östersund. Especially winter sport.
Would you recommend other international students to study here?
If you like studying in a small town and appreciate nature, then I can recommend this place. You should also be aware of the tough and the long winter here!
