Dialog & Cooperation
The needs of the tourism industry for new knowledge form the obvious basis for the research conducted within ETOUR.
- One of the most important tasks of ETOUR is to convey the findings of the research as well as knowledge to the tourism industry, says, Bo Svensson, director at ETOUR.
Conveying the research findings to the tourism industry
The conveyance of information is carried out in three ways: through addressed information, during meetings and dialogues with representatives of the tourism industry and in interactive projects where ETOUR co-operates with tourism companies.
Brief summaries of the ETOUR research findings are published on this web site, released to the media and included in newsletters. More in-depth information is available in the various publications.
- The ETOUR popular scientific books are very appreciated. Many schools use these books in teaching. Organisations within tourism as well as authorities use the results as a basis for their own development, continues Bo Svensson.
In order to create a dialogue, ETOUR organises seminars and takes part in trade fairs. The activities are carried out on a national level, such as the TUR trade fair in Gothenburg as well as regionally, including attendance at the meetings of regional tourism organisations.
- Our message to the industry is to make the most of the research findings. We are happy to organise seminars jointly with the actors in the tourism industry. Please contact us to discuss how we can plan a joint programme, says Bo Svensson.
In addition to providing access to information and enabling communication, ETOUR also creates interactive projects in conjunction with the tourism industry. The idea is that the research provides the basis for joint projects involving ETOUR researchers and tourism businesses or public authorities. The overall objective is to use joint forces to develop tourism.
