The Department of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Mathematics
The Department of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Mathematics (NAT) is mainly situated in Sundsvall, with a minor part in Härnösand.
At the department there are about 770 students and 120 employees. The majority of the courses are given in the Swedish language only. The Master's Programme are given in English and some of our other courses are available in English.
We provides education in Biology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics. The department offers bachelor programmes in biology and chemistry and masters programme in Functional Ecology, Pulp and Paper Engineering and Paper Mechanics.
Our research are in the fields of aquatic ecosystems and extremophilic algae, forest biodiversity, fibre-based material technology, fibre- and process chemistry, herbivores and climate change, organic synthesis of pheromones, physical chemistry and soil chemistry.
Fibre Science and Communication Network (FSCN) is a multi-disciplinary research center for innovating products, services and production systems for the Swedish forest product industry. It is situated in building S on the map above.
