A public defence of a doctoral thesis is the occasion when the doctoral student presents his or her thesis. Decisions on public defences are made by the dean following a proposal from the department. Only one thesis defence can be held per day within the faculty.

Instructions for registering for public defence of a doctoral thesis
Here you will find what is required to register for a public defence - rules, timetables and forms. It is a good idea to review what is required in good time before submitting the application.
When you have decided on a time for the public defence, check that the time you want to book is not taken. The rules for licentiate seminars and the public defence ceremony state that more than one public defence or licentiate seminar should not be allowed at the same time and on the same date within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media.
Notify the faculty administrator john.hakansson@miun.se what time you want to book, preferably as early as possible. This can be done even if you have not completed the "Notification of public defence". In order for the application for a public defence to be handled by the Faculty Office, all documents with signatures must have been submitted.
Contact the print office, jorgen.carlsson@miun.se as soon as you know the date. Periodically, many people have to print their theses, so it can be difficult to get a time for printing that fits the planned graduation date. Before the test printing, the thesis must be proofread and proofread. If you have to change the date of printing, you need to make sure that the print office is informed so that they can change their planning.
