Webinar 19 February: Accessibility in higher education – inspiration and good examples

Fre 12 feb 2021 18:28

In this webinar, we will learn about good practices and advice on how to integrate web accessibility into ICT courses at university level. IAAP Nordic and partnering universities will share insights from a newly developed Handbook and Good practice guide.

With recent and upcoming legislation for both public and private sector, demand for professionals that have skills and knowledge about web accessibility is on the rise. To meet this demand, there is a need for more courses on web accessibility in mainstream ICT education at university level. But for teachers and programme managers that are new to web accessibility, it can be difficult to know how to get started.

In this webinar you will hear about good practices in universities that already offer courses in web accessibility, and you will learn about some tips on how to get started with new courses. This webinar is highly relevant for teachers looking for inspiration and everyone interested in the integration of web accessibility into ICT education.

About the project
The project Integrating Web Accessibility in ICT Courses (IWAC) is a EU-funded research project running from 2019 to 2021. The project is led by Mid Sweden University working together with Stuttgart Media University, the University of Genoa, Funka and IAAP. The main aim of the project is to address the lack of teaching of web accessibility in ICT courses at universities across Europe. The project results will provide universities with practical tips and tools for introducing web accessibility into the curricula of all relevant educational programmes. In addition, the project will encourage the exchange of experiences and lessons learned.
