Labor mobility in tourism and hospitality: Effects on firms´ capacity to innovate.

The majority of jobs in tourism and hospitality are poorly paid, highly feminized, semi-skilled or unskilled and temporary. Tourism and hospitality is also notorious for its high staff turnover concludes Kristina Zampoukos and Dimitri Ioannides in their study.

This spring, they attended to the American Association of Geographers annual meeting in New York, which attracts researchers in Human Geography, Geography and Physical Geography from all over the world. This week, they also  participate at the conference  "Hotellarbeidplasser i endring - et arbeidsliv under global stress" a conference about working conditions in the hotel industry.The conference is organized by the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR). Kristina and Dimitri have been invited to contribute to the book with the preliminary title "The organization of work in hotel workplaces." The chapter will be written with senior researcher David Jordhus-Lier, who work at NIBR.
