Stockholm is known as a city with expensive hotels. Stockholm doesn’t have sufficient hotels to meet requirements, so it can sometime be difficult to find a hotel room. Therefore, it is wise to book your hotel room as soon as possible.

We recommend that you use some of the larger hotel booking sites, such as,, where you can use their interactive map and find the best hotel that suits your need and your budget.

The two venues for the InterPARES Trust meeting in Stockholm are the National Archives at Marieberg (Workshop 15-16 May) and the National Library (Symposium 14 May). These venues are marked on this Google map:

This Google map will also help you with directions for getting to the venues by foot, car, or public transport.  The National Library is within walking distance, or just one subway stop (Östermalmstorg on the red line) from the Central Station. The National Archives at Marieberg is a short bus or taxi ride from the Central Station.

Suggestions for good hotels.

Here are a few hotels that we can recommend for their high quality:

Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm Kungsholmen

Close to National Archives (Walking distance).  New and high class hotel

Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel

Central Stockholm close to transport to the meeting venue. New and high class hotel

Sheraton Stockholm Hotel

Five star hotel, Central Stockholm close to transport to the meeting venue.

Nordic Sea hotel

Design hotel, Central Stockholm, close to transport to the meeting venue. You will find the only “ice bar” in Stockholm in this hotel.

However, there are many more good and reasonably priced hotels that you can find by using the booking websites.

Getting from the Airport to the City

The majority of international flights arrive at the Stockholm Arlanda Airport (Airport code: ARN). From the airport the best and easiest way is to use the Arlanda Express train that takes 20 minutes from the airport to the Central Station. You can also go by taxi but travelling to central Stockholm by taxi is both more expensive and often more time consuming. There are also bus alternatives. Information about how to get to the airport is found here:

Travelling around Stockholm City

Stockholm is a small city and you can normally walk around to many nice locations. The public transport is well developed and easy to use. There are buses and a subway (called the T-Bana). At the Stockholm Central Station (T-Centralen on the T-Bana maps) there is a service center that is recommended for getting the best ticket solutions if you want to travel around Sweden.
