An international expedition consisting of members from Canada, Australia, and Mid-Sweden University's Environmental Physiology Group (EPG) recently completed their high-altitude expedition to Lobuche Peak East in the Himalayan mountain range of Nepal.  Travelling from Kathmandu at 1230m up to eastern summit of Lobuche Peak at 6119m and then returning again, the EPG research objective was to denote changes in blood and respiratory parameters, as well as apnea performance at varying altitudes.  Acclimatization effects were noted, and the pilot data from this study will be used for further research in controlled conditions in the EPGs low-oxygen tent in Sundsvall.
