Economics students Albin Grandin, André Sundberg and Abdimalik Mohamed have just finished their five-week internship at Nordea. As third-year students in accounting and finance, they have been given a broad insight into the bank's operations.

"Since banking operations are subject to regulations, licensing requirements and other conditions required to be able to work directly with customers, the interns have not been able to participate in the operational customer work," says office manager Sofie Hallin and the students' supervisors. She says that the students, on the other hand, have been able to follow the business closely through listening and meetings with employees from different parts of the bank, in order to gain an understanding of how Nordea works and creates value for its customers.

In addition to the day-to-day operations, the interns have also been able to participate in customer events, network meetings and other external activities, which gives them the opportunity to make their own contacts and build networks both within Nordea and in the local business community in Sundsvall, explains Sofie Hallin and continues:
"In parallel with this, they have also run a project with the question 'What attracts young adults in choosing a savings platform?', which has given us new valuable insights.
"For us as an employer, internships of this type are valuable for several reasons. On the one hand, we get to take part in the students' perspectives, and on the other hand, we get the opportunity to present Nordea as a workplace for future talents. As one of the larger employers in Sundsvall, we see the collaboration with the CER network and Mid Sweden University as an important part of our long-term work with skills supply and future recruitment," says Sofie Hallin.
