Lottie Jangdal presents environmental research at the Ecrea conference
Lottie Jangdal has recently returned from the Ecrea conference in Slovenia, where she presented research on environmental journalism in the Nordic countries.
Lottie Jangdal, Deputy Head of Department at the Department of Communication, Quality Technology and Information Systems at Mid Sweden University, recently participated in Ecrea, the European Communication Research and Education Association, which was held this year in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The conference, which attracted 1,600 participants from all over the world, is an important gathering point for researchers in the field of communication.
"It's a great conference where you can both make contacts and get inspiration," says Lottie Jangdal.
During the conference, she presented the research "Environmental reporting across borders in the north," a project that she and a group of journalism researchers have been working on over the past year. The project examines how journalists in four northern countries — Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland — see their role in reporting on climate issues, a topic that transcends national borders and affects the global economy and our common future.
Lottie Jangdal's presentation was titled "Objectivity or activism? Role (dis)parity among environmental reporters in the Nordic countries", and focused on the role and objectivity of journalists in environmental reporting. The research project aims to shed light on how local news media and journalists in these countries cover environmental issues and what challenges they face in their work.
Four out of seven researchers in the project attended the conference.
"It was a good opportunity to work on our scientific article and talk together about marketing and a possible continuation," says Lottie Jangdal.
