From Spain to Sweden to Germany – Arturo trains via Europe
Arturo Giza Munoz has studied the master's program in additive manufacturing at the Sports Tech Research Center in Östersund. Right now he is in Germany where he is doing an internship at the international company EOS.
How did you come to apply to Germany and EOs?
"Within Europe, Germany is one of the most knowledgeable countries in additive manufacturing, specifically Laser Powder Bed Fusion Laser (PBF-L), so I knew that with my education, there could be an opportunity in Germany. I was lucky enough to find an internship that matched my education and previous experience.
What do you work with at EOS, what kind of additive manufacturing do they do?
"At EOS, I work in the Innovation Metal Solutions department. As the name suggests, it focuses on offering innovative solutions such as the improvement of current metal processes, the implementation of innovative components in the machines to improve their performance (for example, different types of lasers, different types of overpainting devices, and so on).
What is your goal with your education – what do you want to do in the future and why?
"My goal with the master's programme is to be able to get in and specialise in the additive manufacturing industry. Right where I am now in life, I would like to focus on something technically related to the development or improvement of processes for additive manufacturing of metals, let's say I would like to be able to dedicate myself to research and development in industry. "In the long term, I might want to be involved in the management of projects related to additive manufacturing and more hands-on with suppliers to provide them with solutions with our development.
Why did you choose the master's programme in additive manufacturing at Mid Sweden University?
"I chose it for several reasons. Firstly, I was attracted by the length of the programme, which is one year, and its specific focus on metal additive manufacturing.
"In addition, after completing my bachelor's degree in Spain, I felt curious to broaden my academic and personal horizons abroad. When I researched the region, I was fascinated by the university's location. Located in a privileged environment in Sweden, it offers an exceptional quality of life and a wide range of activities in all seasons. The combination of a high-quality education and an inspiring environment was crucial to my decision.
