Ye Xu, PhD‑student
Ye Xu is a PhD-student within the research group Wireless Sensor Systems. He will focus his work on energy harvesting for wireless sensors and be a part of the SMART-project.
What is your background?
I have a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master degree in Electronics. After six years of higher education here at Mid Sweden University I have decided to pursue my academic career as a Ph.D researcher. Since I was a bachelor student, I have dreamed of being one of researchers of Industry 4.0, and I want to be a pioneer in its standards making.
What is your area of interest?
The electromechanics and electromagnetic areas. Both areas contains research about energy harvesting systems, power generation reliability and electric power generation for wireless sensor networks (WSN).
What is it that you are going to investigate in your Ph.D?
I will be a part of the SMART-project and focus on “variable reluctance energy harvester” which harvests electrical energy for powering the autonomous sensor in rotating environments, such as speed sensors. Currently, I’m focusing on the simulation of variable reluctance energy harvester by using a finite element analysis (FEA) software named COMSOL Multiphysics.
Why did you choose Mid Sweden University?
I am grateful for the resources and environment the university has provided me with, and now I feel like I want to contribute. It is a young university full of potential. I really like it here.
