Program
Welcome to STC
Associate professor Sebastian Bader welcomes you to STC Tech Tour.
Presenter: Associate professor Sebastian Bader
Location: First floor, S-building
Energy Harvesting - Extract Energy in New Ways
Sebastian presents how embedded systems can utilise their own environment to support themselves with electrical energy. He will show some examples of techniques that convert mechanical motion into electrical energy to avoid batteries with limited capacity.
Presenter: Associate professor Sebastian Bader
Location: Wireless sensor lab, S-building
Power Electronics
Kent and Peng will talk about the research that his research group conducts in the field of power electronics. The goal of some of their research is to develop control technology that can handle the fluctuations that occur in the electricity grids of renewable energy. But the research team is also working on developing the low voltage engine of the future that can revolutionise the automotive industry.
Presenter: Prof. Kent Bertilsson and researcher Peng Cheng
Location: Power Electronics lab, S-building
Intelligence partitioning for smart cameras
Irida will present her work with smart cameras, where the camera node has a vision sensor together with processing and communication capabilities. The aim is to optimise the energy efficiency of the smart camera by analysing which part of the data processing should be implemented in the smart camera node and which part should be processed in the cloud.
Presenter: Dr. Irida Shallari
Location: Vision lab, S-building
Technology for the Smart City
Rikard works as a research engineer and develops prototypes for many of the university’s research projects. Here he will show various examples of how to connect urban environments with the help of sensors, smart cameras, and AI.
Presenter: Rikard Hamrin, Research engineer
Location: L-building
IoT communication and 6G
Stefan will talk about how IoT devices communicate and will show the possibilities that can be created when many small devices work together to solve problems over the Internet. This research therefore includes everything from wireless sensor networks to fully distributed blockchain systems.
Aamir will present his work connected to the project ENSURE 6G where the objective is to create data-driven automation solutions enabled by robust wireless connectivity.
Presenter: Associate professor Stefan Forsström and Dr. Aamir Mahmood
Location: Communication Systems and Networks lab, L-building
Multidimensional camera systems to help merge virtual and real reality
Roger works in the research group Realistic3D where multidimensional camera systems are used instead of traditional cameras. With more cameras and different types of sensors, not only images can be captured but the entire three-dimensional space with the positions of all objects relative to each other. The increased amount of data it generates enables a variety of applications that are not realizable with traditional camera technology. But how do you ensure that the increased amount of data should not set up all bandwidth or fill all storage space? These research questions are addressed by Roger in his presentation.
Presenter: Dr. Roger Olsson
Location: 3D lab, L-building
