Welcome to Dr. Mohamed Elderawy – expert in cyber security
In the end of June Dr. Mohamed Elderawy arrived to Sweden to start his new position as a postdoc researcher at the STC Researcher Centre. He comes from a position as a senior researcher at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he worked for the past seven years.
Mohamed Eldefrawy received his BSc, MSc, and PhD from the Electrical Engineering Department, the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, Egypt. His research focus on the security and privacy in Internet of Things. A very relevant research area today when more and more products are getting connected in all kind areas; from industrial automation to healthcare systems or in smart home applications for personal use. Traditional security systems are not applicable to this new IoT techniques which requires a new way of thinking to address these new challenges.
The STC research group “Communication Systems and Networks” focus on research areas to better understand and develop communication networks, particularly in the wireless domain with a focus on security in real industrial settings. Mohamed will support the research group with his knowledge and experience in the field. He has published about twenty research articles in high reputed journals and conferences. Furthermore, he is an inventor of two US/PCT patents in Cyber Security. He also bee been engaged as a technical reviewer for many international journals and conferences. Mohamed aims to develop a system and method for providing an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Cyber-Assurance. His approach will involve identity management, dynamic authentication, as well as certificate-less key exchange.
This is Mohamed´s first time in Sweden and he really enjoys the friendly atmosphere that he experienced here. Even if this is his first time Sweden he has been to Europe in several different occasions so he didn’t hesitated to apply to the open position as a Post Doctor at Mid Sweden University when it was announced.
