Dr. Rasoul Shalchi Alishah ‑ new Postdoc at STC

Welcome Dr. Rasoul Shalchi Alishah, our new postdoc here at STC! He will be joining the research group Power Electronics. Rasoul will be focusing on the control of power electronic converters in electric industry.

Can you tell us a little about your background?

I was born in Alishah, Iran. I received Bachelor and Master degree in power electrical engineering from the Islamic Azad University of Tabriz and Urmia University, Iran, in 2010 and 2012, respectively. Also, I received a PhD degree in power electronics and system engineering from the University of Tabriz, Iran, in 2017. In 2017, I selected as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Tabriz.

In 2014, I was selected as a member of the Iran Elites National Foundation. I also received two national awards of the Iran Elites National Foundation named “Talented Student” and “Dr. Kazemi Ashtiani” prizes which are the most important national Prizes of Iran. Also, I got two best paper awards from two international conferences in 2012 and 2015. In 2020, my PhD thesis was selected as the best PhD thesis selected by Power Electronics Society of Iran. 

What is your area of interest?

My main Research Interests are Multilevel Converter Topologies, Modular Multilevel Converter for HVDC applications, Modulation Techniques for Multilevel Converter Topologies, Grid-Connected Inverters, Leakage Current Elimination in Grid-Connected PV Systems, Model Predictive Controller for Grid-Connected PV Systems, LVR and DVR structures.

What is it that you are going to research on here at STC?

I would like to focus on the control of power electronic converters in electric industry such as HVDC and renewable energy sources.

Why did you choose Mid Sweden University?

The Power electronic group in the STC research center is working on Power electronic topologies and its applications. I wanted to experience international environment and also, the modern equipment was another reason for selecting the STC center.

How do you like it here so far?

The people and working atmosphere are very friendly. So, I am so happy for being here.

What do you do in your spare time?

I would like to spend my free time with my friends by walking around Sundsvall, watching movies, studying books, and so on. In my opinion, living in Sundsvall is so comfortable with friendly people.
