Innovations for the forest technology of the future

TSG's lunch-to-lunch seminar attracted a wide range of people from the research community and industry. The aim was to promote networking and share insights on the latest technology in the forest machine industry. Among the speakers were researchers from Mid Sweden University and representatives from Telia who presented a research project in collaboration with STC Research Center.

5G and drones for remote forestry

One of the elements of the seminar was the presentation of Mats Bergman from Telia. He presented the results from the research project Robust wireless infrastructure for remote-controlled timber handling, where Mats shared experiences from field tests of drone-borne 5G cells. The project tested the use of a drone that creates 5G connectivity in areas without infrastructure. The goal was to remotely control a forest machine via this 5G solution – a technology that could revolutionize timber handling. Read more: www.miun.se/robust

6G and the future of logistics

Researcher Irida Shallari from Mid Sweden University presented the ENSURE-6G project, which aims to implement advanced 6G infrastructure. The project addresses challenges in industrial logistics in rural areas in Sweden, Finland and Norway, with a focus on robust wireless connectivity and data integration.
