What is your background?

I have a background in Human Intelligence System Engineering, which involves the study and design of systems that mimic or enhance human cognitive processes. My research has primarily focused on human activity recognition using wearable devices and transferring information from multiple sensors to a single sensor.

How come you chose Mid Sweden University?

I chose Mid Sweden University because of its strong focus on applied research and its commitment to technological innovation. The university’s encouragement of real-world applications of emerging technologies aligns perfectly with my research interests. The facilities and collaborative research environment also offer an ideal foundation for pursuing advanced research in my field.

What is going to be your focus during your PhD studies?

During my PhD studies, I will focus on advancing the field of on-device learning by developing new algorithms and architectures that can operate efficiently on resource-constrained devices. I aim to address challenges such as low power consumption, real-time processing, and maintaining data privacy. I plan to explore how these technologies can be applied in various domains, such as smart cities, healthcare, and autonomous systems, where the ability of devices to learn and adapt on their own is crucial.

How has your time in Sundsvall been so far?

My time in Sundsvall has been enriched by the people and beautiful landscapes. The city offers a peaceful environment that is conducive to focused research, while also providing opportunities to connect with the local community and explore the attractive surroundings. The support from the university and the collaborative spirit among friendly fellow researchers have made my experience here very memorable.
