Next generation measurement systems
Climate changes affects the world, the need to measure different environmental parameters increases. By measuring water levels, CO2 levels, temperature and radiation and combining the measurement values in real-time analysis, new opportunities open up to prevent and correct problems in time.
At STC Research Centre we develope the Next Generation Measurement Systems. In cooperation with the partner company Combitech, STC developed a new measurement method that faster can predict the risk of icing on the rotor blades on wind turbines. Using a new camera technique that measures the size of water droplets in fog, the measurement system can predict the risk of icing more quickly. This means that actions can be taken in time to avoid long downtime for de-icing. The result will be a safer and more efficient production of electricity from wind power plants.
