ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS NOW CLOSED The conference organizers of the fifth Åre Risk Event are inviting abstract proposals on the topic of this year’s conference, Risk Assessment and Crisis Preparedness 2025.

Call for Abstracts - Åre Risk Event 2019, March 26-28, Åre, Sweden.

Recent discourse in Sweden has focused on a hitherto undiscussed, and therefore new for this context, set of risks and crises. This includes global events that translate into local crises, including but not limited to, climate change, social upheaval and technological innovations resulting respectively in large forest fires, increased migration flows and various digital threats.

The aim of the conference is to shed light on the kinds of changes this shift has effected in terms of assessment of future risks, preparedness against imminent crises and the potential of creating a sustainable local society.

The Åre Risk Event brings together researchers, practitioners, and people working in public, private, and volunteer organizations for the purpose of knowledge exchange. Talks and presentations interspersed with workshops and small group activities comprise the program, which is preliminary at this stage. This format enables researchers to be inspired not only by other researchers, but also from practitioners, who may provide different perspectives on research questions and methods.

The conference is geared towards researchers with an interest in risk assessment, crisis management, and sustainable local communities. Presentations are expected to generate discussions among researchers and practitioners alike.

We invite abstracts in English of max. 200 words to rcr@miun.se by the extended deadline Januari 8th, 2019. Please make sure you include your name, affiliation, and contact information. Acceptance notifications will be sent out by January 20, 2019.
