The Neuropsychology of Fear: A Twin‑study
This project examines the contribution of genetic and environmental factors to brain function supporting fear and anxiety.
Feelings of fear and anxiety vary greatly between different individuals. Individual differences in fear can be caused by genetic variation as well as individual life experiences. By studying monozygotic twins, which share 100% of their genes, and dizygotic twins, which share 50% of their genes, we can investigate how much genetic factors and environmental factors affect brain activity when we become scared. The project was funded by the Swedish Research Council and twins were recruited from the Swedish Twin Registry.
