Presentations at an international research conference with a ripple effect
In September, the international research conference "The 31st Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research" was held at Mid Sweden University in Östersund. There, our project organized a specific session focusing on inclusive and accessible nature for a healthy and socially sustainable society.
The conference "The 31st Nordic Symposium on Tourism and Hospitality Research" held on 19-21 September attracted over 200 researchers to the Östersund campus. Kristin Godtman Kling, who led our project's session, points out that in addition to presenting what we have found, we also wanted to explore innovative solutions to promote inclusion in nature experiences and outdoor recreation.
"Our session attracted about thirty curious and committed participants. In addition to presenting our own research, we were able to take part in interesting presentations about, for example, a sustainable model for older people to engage in outdoor activities in northern Norway and about accessible urban green areas in Stockholm," says Kristin.
In connection with our presentations on the results and conclusions from two of our sub-studies, we also got in touch with some Spanish researchers at the Catholic University of Valencia who wish to continue collaboration. During the spring, we will therefore have a visiting researcher from that university who will be in our work environment for a few months.
