Environmental reporting across boundaries of the North
The climate has emerged as one of the most important global news issues. News media strengthen their environmental coverage, but so far limited scholarly attention has focused on how journalists view their role within this beat that transcend borders, impact global economy and everone’s future.
This research spans across five neighbouring northern countries: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. A first phase includes qualitative interviews with professional journalists playing a central role in each country’s media model and in peoples’ everyday media use. This will be continued with research about locally oriented news media and subsequently third part niche media.
