rykte, viska, ryktesspridning, kommunikation
In various types of events, rumors arise because of different ambiguities. They often receive a great deal of attention in the media or in the general discussion among people.

Rumors often arise as a collective discussion where difficult questions are given a simple solution. The solution can be correct but also misleading. The purpose of the study is to describe what a reputation is, to investigate how rumors arise and spread and what is the subject of rumor dissemination.

A further aim is to discuss how information managers can handle rumor dissemination in various types of crises. The project is being implemented in collaboration with Professor Gary Fine, Northwestern University, USA.
