WELDVISI ‑ Visualization of the welding process for cognitive support
The project aims to create a prototype of a new sensor-based support system with cognitive feedback to the operator in real time. Physical data shall be recorded via sensors in a handheld tool and transmitted digitally to a local or cloud-based documentation and quality analysis system.
This project will develop a prototype of a cognitive support system (KSS) that provides interactive feedback to a manual operator in production in real time. Physical data is recorded via sensors in a handheld tool and transmitted digitally to a local or cloud-based documentation and quality analysis system. After rapid processing, selected production and quality data are visualised for the operator in a helmet mounted KSS. This provides good support to the operator and enables increased knowledge, safety, quality, and productivity. It will reduce manual documentation work, improve working conditions, and increase the status of work in production.
In the project, KSS will be developed for applications in manual welding because there is both a great need and a great opportunity to positively influence the working environment and training technology for many workers. KSS supports the welder through real-time feedback of data and good advice, which will increase the quality of work and the ability to maintain it. The system will especially aid both older personnel that starts to lose accuracy due to aging, and newer workers with lack of experience.
