Remodelling of the Library at Campus Östersund, summer 2020

During the summer of 2020, the library in Östersund will be remodelled. A new textile floor will be installed to help keep noise levels down and a new silent reading room as well as several more group study rooms will be built and the 20-year-old furniture will get a much-needed facelift.

During the remodelling, from June 4th to August 30th, the regular library will be closed and the books will be out of circulation. A temporary library facility will be open in room G2363, where you can return books and pick up reserved books. G2363 will be open Monday—Friday from 10.00 to 14.00, with the exception of weeks 28—30, when the library will be closed for the summer.

Access to books

I am taking a summer course, can I get access to my course literature?

All the mandatory course literature for summer courses will be available to reserve and to borrow in the temporary library G2363. Are you a distance education student? Then we can send your reserved books to you.

I need a book from Östersund. Can I not get it?

With the exception of the books that are mandatory course literature in a summer course, all the books in Östersund will be boxed up during the remodelling and will therefore not be available. If the title also is available in Sundsvall, you can reserve the book in Primo and have it sent to Östersund. We can also try to make an interlibrary loan for you, but during summer there can be longer waiting times that usual.

Will I be able to reserve my course literature before the autumn semester starts?

With the exception of the books that are mandatory course literature in a summer course, all the books in Östersund will be boxed up during the remodelling and will therefore not be available either to loan or reserve until the library reopens on August 31st. A few titels might be reservable, those who have been out on loan when the library closed and books purchased during the summer. It will be clear in Primo which titles are reservable and not. If the title is also available in Sundsvall, you can reserve the book in Primo and have it sent to Östersund.

Can I access e-books and articles as ususal?

Absolutely, our electronic resources are not affected and are available as usual.

Borrowing and returning books

How do I return books?

Monday to Friday, between 10.00-14.00, you return the books at the circulation desk in G2363. At all other times there is a return box by the door of G2363 where you can return your books. If you do not have a Miun-card, there is also a return slot by the main entrance to the G-house.

I cannot come during the times the temporary library is open. How can I collect my reserved books?

First, try to find a family member or a fried who can collect the books for you. They need your log in information or you identification car to be able to borrow the books. If that is not possible, contact us and we will find a solution together!

Will you have summer loans so that I can borrow a book for the whole summer?

No, our usual lending periods apply for the whole summer, with the exception of weeks 28-30 when we are closed. Books that would have had a return date within this period will get July 27th as their return date. Our automatic renewals will also function as usual, so you will be able to keep your borrowed book for as long as no one else reserves it.
