SIREUS is now being launched, a three-year collaboration project between SACC-USA and 12 Swedish universities, including Mid Sweden University.

SIREUS will focus on knowledge exchange in innovation, science and entrepreneurship and increased talent mobility for students and researchers between Sweden and the USA.

− This creates an exciting and innovative platform through which we can strengthen and expand our network of contacts in the US, both in education, research and collaboration. This also means that we become part of a context with 11 other Swedish universities, strengthened by the cooperation between us, but also through a strong cooperation with the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce and the Swedish Embassy in Washington DC, says Anders Fällström, Vice-Chancellor.

The focus of the SIREUS project is to strengthen the quality of higher education and research by:
• Increasing the number of students, trainees and researchers participating in exchange programs between Sweden and the USA
• Increasing knowledge exchange through collaborative research and innovation
• Strengthening the attractiveness of Sweden as a destination for studies,
research, and internships

− We are currently facing a global competition for competence and talent. International
triple helix partnerships, such as SIREUS, are essential to secure access to relevant
competencies to fully explore and take advantage of the new emerging technologies, says Michael Andersson, Chairman of SACC-USA.

− We see this as an important springboard to strengthen Mid Sweden University’s relations with the world outside Europe as well, and in a way that enables all different parts of our operations to find their entrance to the project, says Anna Lindahl, Head of International Relations Office at Mid Sweden University.

The project is supported by the Embassy of Sweden in Washington, DC and the Swedish Institute, and will establish and operate a structured platform for increased talent mobility and knowledge exchange between Sweden and the USA in the areas of innovation, research and entrepreneurship. Participating Swedish universities are Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg University, Jönköping University, Karolinska Institute, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Linköping University, Linnaeus University, Lund University, Luleå
University of Technology, Mid Sweden University, Mälardalen University and Uppsala University.
