Östersund Municipality and Mid Sweden University sign new four‑year collaboration agreement

The parties have a mutual interest in collaborating on issues that strengthen and develop the activities at Mid Sweden University and Campus Östersund and that contribute to achieving the municipality's overall goals. strengthened sustainable growth and skills supply in Östersund municipality. 

"The fact that we are constantly working to develop cooperation with municipalities and regions in our two counties is of the utmost importance to us as a university. The long-term collaboration with Östersund Municipality is now approaching 15 years and it is very gratifying that we have been able to agree on a continued collaboration through a new agreement that extends until 2029," says Anders Fällström, Vice-Chancellor of Mid Sweden University.

The agreement has two parts, research and skills supply, and means that the parties will contribute SEK 24 million each during the agreement period. The agreement highlights three priority areas, the first of which deals with research and development in connection with areas of sports/winter sports, sports technology, hospitality/outdoor and risk and crisis. 

Another priority area is to develop the municipality's areas of activity through collaboration between the municipality and Mid Sweden University's research environments. The third, prioritised area concerns strengthened collaboration on skills supply.
