For the autumn semester of 2024, 40,838 people have chosen to apply for an education at Mid Sweden University. The number of first-choice applicants is 11,413. This means that the university is attracting more applicants to programmes and courses for the third year in a row.

"It's always satisfying when more people choose to equip themselves for the future through higher education. In this way, you increase your competitiveness and strengthen your opportunities in both good and not so good times. The search numbers are really gratifying and our continued increase is a fine measure of our attractiveness, says Anders Fällström, Vice-Chancellor of Mid Sweden University.

In total, just over 40,838 people have applied for an education at Mid Sweden University for the autumn semester of 2024, compared to 39,023 for the autumn semester of 2023. The number of first-choice applicants has also increased slightly compared to last year, from 11,242 to 11,413 for the autumn semester 2024.

The programmes and courses that are on the top list of total number of applicants and the total number of first-choice applicants are largely the same as last year. A bubbler that ranks just below the top list is the new Bachelor's Programme in Criminology, which attracted a total of 800 applicants, of which 119 were first-choice applicants.

"It's an investment in establishing a new campus programme in Sundsvall that has obviously turned out well, which is great. We have previously had a criminology program at Mid Sweden University, but it has been on hold for many years and now that it is making a new start, it is with different content. We live in a time with a lot of focus on crime and criminality, and there is clearly a great interest in educating oneself to be able to work with these types of issues," says Anders Fällström.

The application period for studying at universities and colleges this autumn ended on 15 April. A total of 405,552 people have applied for a programme or course at one of Sweden's higher education institutions, an increase compared to last year's more than 375,000 applicants.

For some courses, it is possible to make a late application. Late applications will be processed subject to vacancies on the programme. See more on www.antagning.se.
