Heart defibrillator
A heart defibrillator is an electronic device that automatically diagnoses the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias in a patient and is able to treat them through defibrillation, the application of electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.
The heart defibrillator uses audio commands to instruct the person performing AED (automated external defibrillator). The device analyses the patient’s cardiac rhythm and decides whether or not defibrillation is necessary. It is an intelligent device and it is not possible to apply electrical therapy to someone who doesn´t need it.
The earlier one can apply the AED therapy, the greater the chances to survive and the lower the risks of suffering injuries. For every minute that a person in cardiac arrest goes without being successfully treated or by defibrillation, the chance of survival decreases by around 10 percent per minute.
