Aim

The course aims at giving deeper understanding of how firms and other organisations manage interorganizational relationships in networks, in particular in purchasing and marketing.

Course objectives

Upon a successful completion of this course, students will

- Have general knowledge about theoretical approaches for the study of market
networks,
- Be able to analyse and understand different types of business relationships and
networks,
- Be able to distinguish between various definitions and perspectives on network
cooperation,
- Be able to identify cooperation problems in market networks.

Content

Firms develop relationships with other firms in order to perform joint activities and get access to resources and thereby increase their competitive strength. Such cooperation between firms and other organisations takes place in complex networks. This course deals with concepts and approaches that can be used to describe and analyze such networks.

Entry requirements

Degree of Bachelor with 90 Credits in Business Administration or corresponding education.

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

4010: Individual written exam, 4.5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

4011: Written assignment (including seminar attendance), 2.0 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

4012: Written individual assignment, 1.0 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)

4013: Business element, Practical application, 0.0 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)

Campus course and Distance course:

At home exam or written assignment a supplementary oral presentation may be requested by the teacher in order for the student to show the required knowledge. This is to ensure that the student is the actual sender and author of the written work.

If the student has a decision from the coordinator at the Mid Sweden University on pedagogical support in case of disability, the examiner has the right to provide a suitable examination for the student.
