The purpose of this course is to develop the student’s writing skills in English and their ability to shape texts for different purposes and target audiences in the global world.

Course objectives

After satisfactory completion of this course, the student is expected to:
- Be familiar with and able to apply rules for the English language usage and style
- Be able to produce various types of texts, especially articles and press releases
- Know how to revise and analyze the language and style of various types of texts in English
- Have the skills to give and receive constructive feedback on written work
- Understand the Swedish media system in an international context.


The course focuses on:
- Media language
- Correct language usage and style
- Constructive feedback
- The global media society

Selection rules and procedures

The selectionprocess is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

The course format includes lectures, seminars and writing exercises.

Examination form

Course grades are based on written examination and active participation in seminars.

The grades A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F are given on the course. On this scale the grades A through E represent pass levels, whereas Fx and F represent fail levels.
