Course Package: Rearch methods in environmental science
The course package consists of the following courses:
Integrated Environmental Assessment, 7.5 credits:
The course is an introduction to advancements within Sustainability Science and focuses on tools for Integrated Environmental Assessment to support decision making for sustainable development within societies.
Methodology from a Systems Perspective, 7.5 credits:
The course covers a number of methodological tools that are usen in environmental science and ecotechnology such as energy systems analysis, life cycle assessment, risk assessment and environmental impact assessment. The focus is on usability and limitations.
Research Skills, 15 credits:
The course gives insights and tools regarding how to search and review scientific literature, write and edit scientific manuscripts, and give oral presentations. It provides an introduction to the basics of environmental monitoring, data collection and quality control, as well as providing knowledge of basic statistical concepts for data processing such as distribution of data, confidence intervals, correlation and regression. The course also provides basic skills in analyzing and effectively presenting spatial data using GIS. Different ways of publishing internationally and adequate strategies for selecting and implement the most appropriate way of publishing are discussed. Based on practical examples, diverse pitfalls and best practices about how to interact with editors and reviewers are also shown.

Entry requirements
Degree of Bachelor of at least 180 credits (180 ECTS) or equivalent, with at least 30 credits (30 ECTS) in Environmental Science or Environmental Technology/Engineering. English course 6 from Swedish Upper Secondary School (Gymnasium) or the equivalent.
