Did you have any contact with the business sector during your studies?
I took a SIMS innovation course, in which I was a member of a six-student group collaborating with a company called SCA. Through this course, I established a connection with SCA, which eventually led me to apply for my master's thesis, and fortunately, I completed my master's degree with them.
What was your master's project about?
When I was pursuing my master’s degree, my research project mainly focused on utilizing reinforcement learning techniques to optimize forest production processes. Specifically, my research explored how to leverage raster image data and reinforcement learning algorithms to enhance the efficiency and productivity of forest management.
What are you doing now after completing your education?
After completing my master’s degree, I worked for two years at SCA’s digitalization department, gaining valuable industry experience in digital transformation and sustainable forestry practices. Now, I’m a PhD student at Umeå University, focusing on cloud computing, autonomous distributed systems, and green energy. My research aims to address the evolving demands of cloud computing in Web 3.0 and tackle energy challenges in distributed systems.
