Description of programme

The overall objective of this programme is to focus on the links between an increasingly digital environment in society and sustainable development. The digital environment can be described as that which makes it possible to create modern and efficient information solutions and is therefore part of the foundation of a sustainable society. At the same time this increasingly digital environment is also a potential threat to the sustainable development of society, because it can also contribute to social exclusion and increasing use of resources.

Today, organizations deal with a huge flow of information of which a large proportion is created and managed digitally. This raises new demands for managing information provision. Working with business development and digital information services requires knowledge of: information, information management, information governance, business development, the effects of the digital environment and its demands for new work strategies and processes.

This programme prepares students to lead and design sustainable information management in organizations. It aims to find solutions that are sustainable for multiple audiences and to achieve sustainable information over time. To create sustainable solutions for multiple audiences, and in many cases heterogeneous groups, requires specific knowledge of methods based on inclusive, democratic and participation principles. This requires knowledge of distributed forms of project work, i.e. where the participants are separated spatially and / or temporally. In many cases, this is done by using different types of IT services which also contribute to reduced travel.

Overall, the programme enhances skills for achieving sustainable digital information management solutions, which means that information can be used as long as needed by the business or required by law.
