Aim

This course builds upon knowledge acquired in the Master’s Seminar/workshop I. The course participant will acquire in-depth skills and knowledge in the creation, planning and execution of documentary photography projects, as well as developing advanced skills in analyzing and critiquing photographic images. The workshop also addresses the concepts and methods for further developing a cohesive narrative approach to photography on an advanced level.

Course objectives

After satisfactory completion of this course, the student is expected to be able to:
- conceive, plan and execute photographic documentary projects on an advanced level
- conduct an in-depth analysis and critique of photographic works
- understand and be able to implement a cohesive narrative approach to photography on an advanced level

Content

The workshop includes:
- student work
- the works of a broad range of culturally and internationally diverse photographers, as well as other practical and ethical concerns for the practice of this medium
- pedagogic exercises
- methods for the creation of photographic projects such as the conception of a project idea, definition of project boundaries, editing strategies, research, issues of style, and presentation

Photojournalism MA, 30 Credits, including Master’s Seminar/workshop I, 7,5 Credits.

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

The teaching formats include seminars and workshops.

Examination form

A passing course grade requires a passing grade on all exercises as well as attendance and active participation.
Attendance is obligatory at all seminars and workshops. Absence and late assignments may have a negative impact on the course grade.

Grading system

Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
