Aim

The objectives of the course is to acquire knowledge of health and health promotion, national and international health policies, health behavior and its determinants as well as health from a cultural point of view. The objectives of the course are also to acquire knowledge for implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health promotion activities.

Course objectives

After completion of the course the student is expected to:

- analyze the determinants effects on health, such as social structure, idea of the
world, the natural environment, age, gender and ethnicity
- describe and reflex on national and international strategies for Public Health
- design a plan for implementation of health promotion, including strategies for
activities, finding partners, emphasize structures of long-term sustainability of the
programs and give a critical review of an existing plan for health promotion
- suggest strategies of importance for evaluation of the in the course designed
health promotion program
- reflect on ethical aspects and give concrete examples
- define a realistic founder; describe the applying process and its specific demands.

Entry requirements

Previous higher education are required.
Degree of Bachelor, or equivalent, with at least 180 higher education credits (180 Higher Education Credits) in public health sciences, healthcare or other relevant social sciences subject area.

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

Part time Internet based distance education. The studies will be carried out as individual and group studies at the educational platform (WebCT). That means that you will be offered lectures and seminars at the course site. You will be offered one meeting at the beginning of the course. You will need a computer and connection to Internet.

Examination form

Examinations are conducted continually in form of various form of examinations.
