Aim
The course aims to deepen knowledge in coaching, leadership and organization with a focus on sports. Furthermore, the purpose is to provide a theoretical and practical knowledge of the use of behavioural models in the development of sporting achievement.
Course objectives
After completing the course the student should be able to:
- Develop and guide athletes appropriately for individual and group performance outcomes.
- Demonstrate applied knowledge of the importance of different psychological and social factors that affect athletes’ performance.
- Independently integrate and use knowledge of coaching, leadership and organization in sports
- Deal with complex phenomena and issues in coaching, leadership and organization in sports

Entry requirements
Bachelor’s degree of minimum 180 credits (including a degree project of at least 15 credits or equivalent internationally recognised degree) in Sports Science, Physical Education, Physiotherapy, Psychology or equivalent. English course 6/English course B from Swedish Upper Secondary School (Gymnasium) or the equivalent.
Selection rules and procedures
The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The course is delivered in English. The teaching methods vary and include individual and group exercises. Examples of teaching methods include lectures, literature studies, seminars, workshops and practical exercises. Detailed information is given in the study handbook.

3000: Written reflective report (“Top performance pattern”), 0.5 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)
4000: Oral presentation (“Top performance pattern”), 1 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)
5000: Written reflective report (“Coaching training”), 1 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)
6000: Qualitative interview report (“How do you develop mastery”), 5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
The course is examined through compulsory assignments on campus (that require physical presence) together with an individual written assignment.
If a student has a written decision from the coordinator at Mid Sweden University for students with disabilities, the examiner has the right to adjust the examination.
Retaking of passed exams to improve grades is not permitted by Mid Sweden University.

Students accepted to previous versions of the course have the right to be examined 3 times within 1 year according to that syllabus, except module(s) that require physical presence where 1 examination opportunity per year is offered.
