Aim

The purpose of the course is to deepen the student's understanding of the field of modernity and modernism.

Course objectives

When finishing the course, the student is required to demonstrate
- a deeper understanding of modernity and literary modernism as phenomena, concepts and fields of research; including their interrelation
- an ability to identify, formulate and apply relevant scholary approaches to modernity and modernism

Content

Theories of modernity and modernism and their interrelation.

Entry requirements

Admittance requires a Bachelor's Degree (90 HE Credits; levels A, B and C) in Comparative Literature.

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

Teaching will mainly consist of lectures and seminars.

Examination form

Assessment is based on the work in the seminar, including written and oral presentations, and on written answers to a concluding exam.

Grading system

Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

Other information

If the examiner approves, the course can alternative be taken in another subject on the advanced level; either at the Mid Sweden University or elswhwere.

The course i part of the Master's Programme in Comparative Literature, 60 HE Credits.
