Aim

The course provides a general introduction to normative media theories and media systems in different parts of the world.
By the end of the module, the student will be able to:
· Identify and explain basic media philosophies
· Analyze the interplay of political, cultural and economic forces in the context of media system development and change in different countries
· Summarize the basic attributes of media systems in Scandinavia, North America, Europe and developing countries
· Compare the Swedish system to that of another country
