Aim
The course will provide students with knowledge of perception, emotion, cognition and learning. The various areas are defined and problematized.
Course objectives
On completion of the course students will be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
• Define the concepts perception, emotion, cognition and learning and using literature problematize, discuss and compare the above concepts.
• Based on examples of application describe the chain of information processing and reaction, from perception to metacognition.
• Describe basic learning principles and their importance in various contexts.
Competence and skills
• Carry out a simple behaviour analysis in terms of operant and respondent behaviours.
• Give examples of methods that can be used for scientific analysis of perceptual, cognitive and emotional phenomena.
Judgement and approach
• Identify areas where the level of knowledge is unclear or where there is controversy.

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
Teaching forms include lectures and seminars.
Examination form
Assessment will be by written assignment, in addition to compulsory attendance at seminars.

Grading system
Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
Other information
Attendance at course seminars, groups work and practicals is compulsory. Students not meeting the requirement of compulsory attendance will be given opportunity make up the work missed during the following year or the next time the course is offered.
