Aim

The aim of this course is to give a broad insight to the policy process and the consequences of policy. More specifically, this course centers on the policy process in relation to risk and crisis management at the local, national, and international levels.

Content

This course provides a general introduction to the policy process and its components. Understanding the policy process is crucial in the understanding of the drivers of policy change as well as any consequences this change may have on operative level of crisis management. A special focus is placed on Swedish public administration, its structure and function in terms of crisis management.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry qualifications for this course apart from general university entrance qualifications. However, priority will be given to those candidates who have at least one academic year or the equivalent in higher education studies.

Course instruction is in the form of lectures and seminars.

1100: Exam, 6 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

1200: Seminars, 1.5 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)

Assessment is in the form of a written examination, oral examination, or research paper assignments.

Grades for this course are on the Bologna scale: A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. A through E are passing grades; Fx and F are failing grades .

Grading system
