Aim
The course aims to provide students with theoretical knowledge of organization studies, with a specific focus on the field of risk and crisis management. It also gives students opportunity to apply that knowledge practically during exercises, as well as planning and assessing their own exercises.
Course objectives
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:
- Describe theoretical orientations and concepts in organisation studies.
- Analyse and critically discuss the importance of risk, crisis, and security in organisations and in society.
- Describe and analyse exercise models in the field of risk and crisis organisation.
- Plan an exercise and relate the different elements of the exercise to existing theory or previous studies in the field
Content
The course presents organisation and organisation theory, its central concepts, and directions. Furthermore, it deals with risk and crisis management both from organisational perspectives and from the perspective of the organisation of society. The module also involves exercises related to risk and crisis management, as well as critical and methodological discussions related to exercises.

The course consists of lectures, seminars, interactive exercises, as well as oral and written examinations.

Grade scale: Two-grade scale
Examined through active participation in seminars and exercise, as well as submission of written work.
1020: Organisation, Crisis, and Exercise - Take-home Exam, 5 Credits
Grade scale: Three-grade scale
Examined through an individually written take-home exam.
