Before you can begin your studies, there are three things you need to do
1. Get a login for the student portal (Swedish: Studentportalen)
If you are an international student and admitted to a campus-based program, you will receive your User ID upon arrival at Mid Sweden University. All international students who are admitted to a distance education program, will receive their User ID by email approximately one week before course start.
This is your most important tool during your studies at Mid Sweden University. Here, you will find information about courses, study material etc. This is also where you register for each course. All of this can be found at www.miun.se/admitted.
If you have studied at Mid Sweden University before, you will keep the same student login and user id.
2. Read through the current course syllabus
In the course syllabus, there is information about the course literature and other important things about the course for both teachers and students.
3. Register for the course
You must register for all of the courses you want to take during the semester. https://www.miun.se/en/student/. You can register no earlier than 2 workdays before the beginning of the course. It is important that you register for each course. It is important that you register for each course.
This course is read by full-time students in their first year of the Magister program and half-time students in their second year. The course runs for 40 weeks and covers the initiation, planning, execution and examination of an independent research project.
The course has three compulsory campus meetings in Östersund, of which the first takes place on 9th and 10th September (10:00-16:00). At this "kick-off" meeting you will have the opportunity to discuss your project interests and ideas with potential supervisors as well as participate in workshops on the research environment, research design and research ethics.
The second meeting will be before Christmas, and here you will present and defend your project plans.
At the third meeting in May-June students present and defend their Theses.
Dates for the second and third campus meetings will be confirmed and released in due course.

In order to borrow at Mid Sweden University you need a library account. You get a library account when you activate your student portal login, register to a course and approve of the library lending rules. It takes about an hour after your activation before the library account is made. Use your student portal login to borrow and reserve books and to access the services of the library from home.
