The research centre Risk and Crisis Research Centre, RCR, at Mid Sweden University in Östersund, has built an advanced lab aimed at developing new methods for the study of leadership, collaboration, and communication, in conjunction with societal risks and crises, as well as testing and developing exercises in risk and crisis management.

The RCR lab will be a physical and virtual environment for research, collaboration and learning from which the region and the entire field of research can benefit.

It is equipped with multisensor immersive technology. High-technology aids in the lab, such as 360° visualization, 360° sound system, vibration, lighting, smoke, scents, eye tracking and physiological technology, manipulate the senses to facilitate immersion in a simulated environment or an incident that feels real. In other words, a simulation can be so realistic that one forgets that they are in a lab.
