The Right to Award Master’s Degrees and the Degree of Master of Science in Engineering | 2003 |
In 2003, the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education approved Mid Sweden University’s application for the right to award Master’s Degrees in all fields of study, as well as the Degree of Master of Science in Engineering.
Ever since 1992, the University, in collaboration with KTH (the Royal Institute of Technology), had offered the first two years of studies towards a Degree of Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. The decision to grant Mid Sweden University the right to award Master’s Degree of Science in Engineering was announced before the application deadline, which meant that in the autumn of 2003, 40 students could be accepted to Mid Sweden University's first own Master’s Programme in Engineering with specialization in information technology. The following year, the specialization in industrial design was added.
