Skarp Åre starts | 2008 |
In order to strengthen Mid Sweden University’s profile in the fields of tourism, winter sports and outdoor life, Skarp Åre was started. The one-year education was popular and it was offered by the university for six years, but it is currently put on ice.
Skarp Åre educated innovation leaders, that is to say the ones who will run and lead the product and business development of the future. As part of the education, students worked on live commissions (“skarpa uppdrag” in Swedish, hence the name), in cooperation with, among others, Skistar, Klättermusen, STF and Åre Destination.
The education was offered for six years, but was put on ice in the autumn of 2014, due to cuts in the number of student places.
– Skarp Åre was popular and appreciated by both the industry and the students, and we can see that there is a demand for this type of education, says course coordinator Johan Lilja.
