Two New Exciting Programmes | 2009 |
2009 was the year when Mid Sweden University got two new, exciting programmes: the Criminology Programme and the Risk and Crisis Management Programme.
– The Criminology programme was started so that we would be able to research and teach applied criminology. Mid Sweden University is the only university in the country to offer a Criminology Programme where the students get to do practical work in forensic psychiatry, correctional treatment and together with the police during their education, says Susanne Strand, subject representative for criminology.
The other new programme, the Risk and Crisis Management Programme, educates the security managers, risk analysts and security coordinators of the future. The students learn how people and organizations prevent and manage threats, risks and crises. It can be about anything from violence in close relationships and walking home alone at night to how authorities act during larger catastrophes, such as fires, accidents, terrorist attacks and hurricanes.
