The Department of Electronics Design is situated at Campus Sundsvall. In addition to its research activities, it offers courses and programmes in the subjects Electronics, Electrical engineering and Sound production. The research of the department is conducted at the research centre STC (Sensible Things that Communicate, www.miun.se/stc).
Doctoral student in Electronics specialising in X-ray-based measurement systems for environmental technology applications
Job description: Postgraduate position specialising in measurement systems for detecting heavy metals in nature and in industrial processes with the aid of X-ray fluorescence. Your studies will focus on the development of measurement systems capable of continuously monitoring sensitive ecosystems or critical industrial processes. The challenge with the system lies in being able to actively influence processes in order to minimise their environmental impact.
Your work may include both practice and theory, the development of sensors and readout systems, as well as the construction of test systems for environmental Controls.

Eligibility and basis for assessment, alt. Qualifications: Basic eligibility is a degree at advanced level or completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are at advanced level, or in some other way having acquired generally equivalent knowledge whether in Sweden or abroad. Specific eligibility is at least 90 higher education credits in electronic engineering, computer science and engineering or a closely related subject, or in some other way having acquired generally equivalent knowledge whether in Sweden or abroad.
Aside from the formal eligibility requirements, selection will also be based on other work (e.g. thesis, project work), courses and interviews with the applicant.
We see it as an advantage if you have knowledge and experience of radiation physics, detector technology and environmental technology. Your personal qualities, such as collaborative ability, initiative and suitability for postgraduate studies, will be weighed together with your formal knowledge of the subject. Your application should include a brief description of your vision and goals as a doctoral student and researcher.
Administration: The appointment will be effected following the forms specified in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance and continue in accordance with the postgraduate doctoral appointment procedure applicable at Mid Sweden University.
Employment and access: The postgraduate position refers to employment for an initial period equivalent to two years of full-time study and is expected to lead to a licentiate degree. Employment may be extended to a PhD provided that additional funding is obtained. Employment to commence by agreement.
