Researcher (postdoctoral)– Light field capture, processing, display

The research group Realistic 3D (Multidimensional Signal Processing and Imaging) as part of the STC Research Centre (Sensible Things that Communicate) is looking for a researcher holding a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Optical Physics, or similar, for the project Light Field Evaluation System. The project’s aim is to produce a light field communication test bed and explore the consequences on processing, distribution and presentation by utilizing a large number of cameras of different types and visualizing captured data in different ways, and it addresses problems related to collaborating cameras; transferring the data to another location; and/or computing improvements to depth maps, resolutions, and signals based on redundant captured information, in order to produce consistent virtual views on the receiver side based on data interpolation and geometric projections. The successful applicant will collaborate with researchers and industrial partners within the project as well as with other researchers at the department.

Job description: To conduct original theoretical and experimental research in the area of Computer and Electrical Engineering, including Light field processing and quality assessment.
